Since 1981, Sumal Foods Limited has been the pride of Ibadan.. a name synonymous with quality, integrity, and excellence in food manufacturing. Renowned for producing some of Nigeria’s most beloved biscuits, chewing gum, and toffees, Sumal Foods operates with advanced machinery that demands a continuous and stable power supply to maintain precision and efficiency.

The Challenge

Sumal Foods required an uninterrupted 5 MW power supply to sustain its large-scale production processes. However, no single generator set could deliver this capacity independently. The client needed a reliable, scalable, and efficient solution that would meet current needs while providing room for future expansion.

Mikano Power designed and executed a customized multi-generator power system using advanced MTU technology:

5 units of MTU 12V4000L64FNER gas gensets, each rated at 1.5 MW, for a total of 7.5 MW output.

Containerized, soundproof units for reduced operational noise and faster on-site deployment.

Fully assembled mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

Dedicated cooling systems and air handling units for efficient combustion and optimal air circulation.

Extended lifespan engines, up to 84,000 operating hours, minimizing maintenance and maximizing uptime.

Future-ready capacity, exceeding the current 5 MW requirement to support potential expansion.
